Located in Hong Kong's northeast, the Sha Tau Kok Frontier Closed Area, which is only accessible to individuals with a permit, has been gradually opening up over the years. Since 2022, tourists have been allowed to visit the 280 metre pier - the longest in Hong Kong. The second phase opening-up will begin on January 1, 2024, initially allowing up to 1000 tourists per day to visit all of the Frontier Closed Area, except Chung Ying Street.
