Tai Kwun - Heritage complex transformed into a new cultural landmark

The restored Central Police Station compound, named Tai Kwun - Centre for Heritage and Arts, is a new cultural hub in Hong Kong. The 13,600 square metre complex, between Hollywood Road and Chancery Lane, boasts a rich history, with the earliest building dating back to 1841. Tai Kwun, which means Big Station in Cantonese, comprises 16 heritage buildings, including the former Central Police Station, Victoria Prison and Central Magistracy. The new arts complex offers multi-purpose venues for artists-in-residence, exhibitions, events, performances, film, photography, music, design, culture and heritage from Hong Kong and around the world to enrich the city's cultural life.
